Police are investigating after a man was found seriously injured in an Aberdeen street.
Officers were called to the Bon Accord Gold Club, near to Pittodrie on Golf Road, at around 6am after reports of a “disturbance”.
The 44-year-old was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries, although his condition was last night described as stable.
A 42-year-old man is helping police with their inquiries.
It is believed the victim may have been stabbed, but police said yesterday they were still investigating the cause of his injuries.
Police cordoned off the scene of the bar which looks out onto Kings Links golf course yesterday morning, and the cordon remained in place throughout the day.
A spokeswoman for the force also confirmed that the incident was not related to the disturbance at Tillydrone’s Donside Court which left two men and a woman dead.
She said: “Inquiries are ongoing to establish how the man came by his injuries but a 42 year old man is currently in custody in connection with the incident.”
Local business owners and residents expressed their “shock” at seeing the police activity in the area.
Audrey Walker, the steward of the next door Caledonian Golf Club, said: “I don’t think it could have been a golfer involved given the weather in the morning and the time.
“Someone had told me about something in the bakers this morning but it was only when I got to work and saw the cordon I realised how bad it must have been.”
Andrew Laing, 47, arrived to begin his day’s work at the Kings Links Course and saw officers guarding the scene.
He said: “I arrived just after 6am and never saw anything except the police with the cordon.”
Jim Noble, a councillor for the Tillydrone, Seaton and Old Aberdeen ward, said: “It’s a particularly surprising incident given the time of morning it happened.”
