The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a cat had to have his leg amputated following an air gun attack in Aberdeenshire.
Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted after the three year old male cat from Ellon was shot on July 11.
Inspector Fiona Shand said: “The cat returned to his home in the Auchmacoy area with an injured front leg and a gash on his back leg.
“When the owners took him to a vet, an x-ray revealed his elbow had been shattered and as a result his leg had to be removed.
“The owner has no idea who might have done this and we are appealing to anyone with information about this cruel attack to come forward.
“We also want cat owners in the area to be aware of what’s happened.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
