A young woman has died following a crash on a north-east road.
The 21-year-old lost her life after her car careered off the road and crashed into a wall on the A937 road between Marykirk and Craigo around 9.40pm yesterday.
Her car, a grey Citroen C3 is understood to be the only vehicle involved in the crash. There were no other passengers.
The road was closed for a number of hours following the crash, with police investigators scouring the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We can confirm that a 21-year-old woman has died following a road traffic collision.
“The one vehicle collision happened around 9.40pm on Sunday July 24 on the A937 near to North Craigo when a grey Citroen C3 left the road and collided with a wall.
“ No other people were travelling in the vehicle.
“Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the vehicle being driven prior to the collision to contact them on 101.”
Firefighters from Laurencekirk were also called to the scene.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the crew made sure the vehicle was safe.
