A housing charity will visit the north-east’s biggest town today to offer support to older and disabled residents.
The Housing Options Scotland roadshow is aimed at advising potentially vulnerable residents about housing options.
Funded by Big Lottery’s Awards for All programme and the Scottish Government, the charity team will be available at Peterhead Community Centre between 10am-4pm.
The organisation’s chief executive Moira Bayne said: “We are delighted to come to Peterhead today. With our branded bus we will be able to reach hundreds of people with whom we could not normally readily engage due to social, geographic or economic disadvantage.”
Housing Options Scotland is working to achieve the government’s commitment to provide “an affordable home for all” by 2020.
Ms Bayne added: “Older people, disabled people and families, disabled veterans and their carers, will have the opportunity to learn about the options open to them.
“They will be able to speak face-to-face about their situation with trained professionals and engage with our trained peer support volunteers who have themselves been through the journey of trying to find the right house in the right place.”
