Many brides keep their wedding dress in their wardrobe unworn for years after their big day. Others donate it to a good cause or use the fabric to create something new.
But this Banchory bride and her new husband decided on a decidedly different track.
Sammy Birnie, 29, and partner Mike, 34, instead decided to trash their special outfit for a newlyweds photoshoot after tying the not at Raemoir House Hotel.
Sammy, a logistics co-ordinator, said: “I just thought it was better than keeping it up in the loft. It wasn’t until we got ready to do the quad bike that I looked down at my wedding dress and thought ‘what am I doing?’
“But then the first bit of mud hit me and I knew it’s what I wanted to do.”
One particularly memorable part of the ‘trash the dress’ fun came when Mike, 34, drove through a boggy puddle to splatter screaming Sammy with dirt.
Photographer Logan Sangster of Deeside Photographics said the snaps, which he posted on his Facebook page, have had more likes than any other – more than 700.
He told the Evening Express: “When we arrived at the location she was standing there looking beautiful in her white wedding dress. I did say ‘are you sure you want to do this?’
“But she’s a fun-loving girl and just wanted to get on with it. We did a test run to see how high the puddles would go, but she still got a shock on the first go and had her hands up screaming!”
But don’t worry, part of the dress was made into a locket before the shoot took place.
The rest is now at a local dry cleaners.
Sammy added: “I appreciate it will probably be stained.”
