A north-east harbour will be awash with colour this weekend as locals and visitors alike celebrate gala day.
The Buchanhaven Harbour Open Day, which will be held on Saturday, is expected to be the biggest yet as the small fishing community is visited by princesses, fun fairs and a dinosaur.
Last night, Arthur McKenzie, chairman of the harbour committee, said: “It’s a fun day for all the family whether you like a cup of tea and a fancy piece or kipper or a trip out on the boat.
“There’s lots of stalls selling home bakes, bottle stalls, raffling off great prizes and car boot sales, also Spencers Fun Fair with rides will be coming along for the kids which is a new attraction this year.”
Visitors to the harbour will also have the chance to meet costumed Disney princess characters and a replica dinosaur and accompanying Jurassic Park 4×4.
The local lifeboat volunteers and Fishermen’s Mission will have awareness and fundraising stalls.
Mr McKenzie said: “It’s supported by the local community of Buchanhaven and also a lot of local families and businesses support us which make it a great day.
“We are also looking for businesses to sponsor the harbour open day to make it bigger and better each year.”
Buchanhaven Harbour Open Day is taking place on Saturday from 12.30pm-5pm.
