Woman admits stealing hundreds of pounds worth of toys and hair products

An Aberdeen woman has been jailed for stealing hundreds of pounds worth of toys, clothing and hair products from city stores.
Helen Edgar appeared in Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted carrying out a string of thefts on city shops and a hairdresser.
On April 14 29-year-old Edgar took £290 worth of clothing from John Lewis on George Street; and on April 17 she took £104.90 worth of Lego from Toys R Us on Berryden Road.
Then on April 18 at Smyth’s Toys on the city’s Links Road Edgar, of flat A, 130 Hutcheon Street, Aberdeen, took £129.94 worth of Lego.
Three months later she stole hair dye and straighteners worth a total of £48.94 from Capital Hair and Beauty in Skene Square.
Solicitor Les Green said Edgar had taken the items as a “means of funding”.
Edgar also admitted a separate charge of take clothing worth £310 from John Lewis on July 7.
Sheriff Margaret Hodge sentenced her to a total of nine weeks behind bars.
