Police have released a description of the man they want to trace in connection with an attempted robbery in Aberdeen.
A man aged between 16 and 20 covered his face with a scarf and brandished a weapon as he attempted to steal cash from the Gallowgate Store at about 4.10pm yesterday.
He fled empty handed.
Officers say the culprit is of slim build, and was wearing a black zip-up hooded tracksuit top, black trousers and a light coloured scarf covering his face.
It is believed he fled towards West North Street car park.
Detective Constable Emma Forbes said: “We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this suspect in the area of the Gallowgate or West North Street areas.
“This was a targeted attack on a shop premises which left staff shaken and upset. I would ask anyone with information to contact us.”
Siema Lekra, who was working at the neighbouring Donians fish and chip shop at the time of the incident, said: “I saw seven cars arrive here after 4pm.
“Police went into the shop next door and we were told it had been robbed.”
The attack follows a similar event last May where an employee was threatened in front of her seven year-old son by a man carrying a knife. He made off with cigarettes and around £500.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0845 500 111.
