Cyclists at a north-east law firm are gearing up to take part in the Ride the North – for the sixth time.

Stronachs LLP, which has supported the 175-mile bike ride since it launched in 2011, are gearing up to take on the challenge with its largest team yet.

This year they are raising money for Clan Cancer Support, its nominated charity for 2016.

The team of 12 men and three women are currently training for the two-day route across the Grampian Highlands on August 27 and 28.

And they will be cheered on along the way by some of their colleagues, who are acting as support riders of the event.

Bobby McDonald, a partner at the firm, is one of the founders of the group and has participated every year.

He said: “The popularity of cycling has definitely increased in the last few years and as the Ride the North event has grown in numbers since it began, so too has the Stronachs cycle team.

“We’re looking forward to taking on the challenge and hopefully raising even more money for Clan.”

Earlier this year the firm organised a ladies’ afternoon tea party in aid of the charity, raising £10,000.
