Kincorth Swimming Pool will remain closed over the weekend following an incident of vandalism.
The incident, where a number of windows on the site were broken, is believed to have taken place overnight between Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 July, resulting in the pool being drained to remove glass.
Customers can expect an update next week on the reopening of the vandalised site.
The pool and the filtration system has been drained and cleaned to remove all glass, and is now in the process of being refilled, heated and treated.
Police advised that the incident was reported at Kincorth Academy Swimming Pool as happening between 4pm and 8am on July 26/27. Damage of around a low three-figure sum was caused to a window. Enquiries are continuing.
A Sport Aberdeen spokesperson said: “Sport Aberdeen is clear that the safety of our customers and staff is of the utmost importance.
“Following the act of vandalism, we are now in the second stage of the process where the pool is being refilled, heated and treated. This requires nearly 70,000 litres of water to be put back into the pool.
“This has been a considerable task. We are grateful to customers and the community for their support, and will provide further information regarding the re-opening next week.”
