One of the north-east’s leading restaurants reached an impressive fundraising charity target at the weekend.
Udny-based Eat on the Green revealed, at a special event on Saturday, that they had raised £10,000 for Friends of Anchor through discretionary £1 donations added on to every bill.
The fundraising figure, solely achieved through bill donations, was announced by restaurant owner, Craig Wilson, at the launch of the eatery’s first Ladies Day event.
Mr Wilson said: “Many of the ladies who joined us are long-term customers and have been supporting us for years.
“So, to be able to share with them the news that, collectively, we had hit the £10,000 mark for a charity which is close to so many of our hearts was very special.”
The Aberdeenshire premises has supported FoA for a number of years and Mr Wilson declared he wants to keep doing whatever he can.
He added: “As a family and within the team at the restaurant, many of us have experienced the loss of a loved one through cancer.
“Knowing the full extent of support that Friends of Anchor offers to cancer patients, we wanted to play our part in helping make a difference to those fighting the disease.”
Since the partnership launched in 2014, Eat on the Green has raised more than £37,000 for the cancer charity.
PR and fundraising manager for Friends of Anchor, Sarah-Jane Hogg, said: “We are truly grateful to Craig and the team at Eat on the Green and every customer who have kindly donated and continue to support the charity.
“To reach the £10,000 mark from bill donations alone in two years is absolutely fantastic. The heart that Craig and the team at Eat on the Green have for the cause is second-to-none.”
