An Aberdeen charity is taking a peek through the looking glass for their Alice in Wonderland themed ball this year.

Social care body VSA will host the fundraiser at the Ardoe House Hotel on November 5, and are seeking inspiration from Lewis Carroll’s famous 1865 novel.

Over the last seven years, the ball has raised more than £70,000 to provide social care and education for elderly, young and mentally challenged people around the north-east.

Previous themes have included Bollywood and the Great Gatsby.

Deacon Blue star and football pundit Dougie Vipond will host the black tie event with music provided by top party band Madhen.

But this year organisers say they recognise the impact of the downturn in the oil and gas industry and will for the first time be offering individual seats for £100 each. Previously only full tables could be booked.

Events and fundraising coordinator Debbie Fotheringham said: “For the first time we have a range of sponsorship options available.

“The money raised is absolutely vital for continuing our services that we offer to some of the most vulnerable people in the community.

“Not only is it a great night out, you will also be hugely helping local people.”

For further details of sponsorship opportunities and to book a table or individual places call Ms Fotheringham on 01224 358617. Alternatively, visit www.vsa.org.uk
