A 32-year-old man has died following a crash on a north-east road.
Emergency crews were called to the incident on the B979 road near Westhill, between the B9119 Cairnie road and A944 route to Elrick, at around 8.30am.
The collision involved a red Toyota Yaris motor car and a white and orange articulated lorry. The lorry driver was uninjured although shocked.One eyewitness said: “It just came right off the road. It looked very serious.”
Police said no further information on the man, who is from the Torphins area, would be released until after formal identification has taken place.
Road Policing Sergeant Rob Warnock said: “My thoughts, and that of my officers, are very much with the family and friends of the man who sadly died in this dreadful collision. Several people witnessed this incident and I am acutely aware that they, and others who assisted at the scene, have also been affected by the tragic circumstances.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the crash or who may have seen either vehicle shortly beforehand and who hasn’t yet spoken with Police to do so as a matter of urgency to help us piece together exactly what happened.”
