A delivery of huge beams which are set to be used as part of the ongoing AWPR construction works will travel through Aberdeen today.
The 90ft beams, which will form a bridge across the A90 Aberdeen to Ellon road at Blackdog, will make their way through the city between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
All 10 structures will be carried on a separate truck, travelling north on the A90 and exiting onto Wellington Road.
The convoy will follow a route along West Tullos Road, Great Southern Road and Riverside Drive before turning into Holburn Street, Anderson Drive and the Haudagain roundabout.
Once the beams reach the AECC, they will turn north again before they are delivered to their destination at Cranfield.
A spokesman for the AWPR said: “The contractor has been working closely with Police Scotland and the local authorities to minimise any inconvenience that may be caused due to beam deliveries.
“The deliveries take place during the day for safety reasons. The trucks only enter the city during off-peak travelling periods when roads are quieter.”
The spokesman added that the massive beams were an “integral” part of the overall bypass project, which included two river crossings and a railway bridge.
He said: “We would like to thank road users and the local community for their ongoing support and patience during the construction work.”
