Ambitious proposals for a multimillion-pound stadium and training academy for Aberdeen FC could move forward in the next few days.
The application will come before the council’s pre-application forum, one of the first steps of the planning process, next week.
The Dons are committed to moving to the west of the city at Kingsford, between Kingswells and Westhill.
In addition to having a capacity for 20,000 fans, the new site would house training facilities, a football academy and a pavilion containing offices and a gym.
George Yule, executive vice chairman of Aberdeen Football Club, said: “The pre-application hearing is the next step in the planning process as we work to develop much-needed modern training facilities, community facilities and a 21st-century stadium for Aberdeen FC.
“The hearing follows two weeks of well-attended public exhibitions which featured some lively debate.
“It also demonstrated the overall support for the project, particularly around the benefits our multi-sport and community facilities can bring to the region as whole.
“There are, of course, genuine concerns being raised by the local communities in relation to traffic and parking.
“We look forward to presenting our plans to Aberdeen City Council at next week’s hearing, ahead of submitting a full planning application later this year.”
