Detectives investigating the murder of Aberdeenshire Brian McKandie in Rothienorman have traced a car they had earlier released CCTV images of.
Mr McKandie was attacked at his home at 4 Fairview Cottages, Badenscoth, Rothienorman, on Friday 11 or Saturday 12 March 2016 and was found dead there on the Saturday.
Detectives earlier appealed to the public to assist in tracing a Subaru Impreza and released CCTV images.
Detective Chief Inspector Iain Smith said: “We’d like to confirm that the vehicle has been traced and thank the public for assisting. The owner of the vehicle has been spoken to and we can confirm it is unrelated to the investigation.
“We are still appealing to the public for help in identifying two vehicles which were seen at Mr McKandie’s address on 11 March 2016. The vehicles are an old style silver Ford Fiesta motor car and a burgundy / maroon coloured estate car, possibly a Volvo.
“In addition we would like to hear from anyone who knew customers of Mr McKandie’s or who was a customer.”
