Councillors will vote on whether to back proposals for 124 new homes on the outskirts of Aberdeen next week.
Stewart Milne Homes have submitted plans for 33 flats and 91 houses, new upgraded access roads and engineering works for Kingshill Road in Countesswells.
Until last year, the site was partially occupied by the buildings which were formerly home to the Loanhead Equestrian Centre. However, they were demolished as part of the wider development proposals.
A parallel application for planning permission in principle for the overall residential development, comprising 3000 homes, a town and a neighbourhood centre was approved by full council in October.
But the application has been brought back to committee after eight letters of objection.
Council officers have recommended members approve the plans, subject to ten conditions, such as a bird hazard plan being carried out and the buildings complying with the council’s “low carbon” rules.
A report to the council’s planning development management committee next Thursday states: “The matters raised by objectors have been fully considered, and the various conditions proposed, would satisfactorily mitigate the impact of the development.”
However, the plans have been controversial in some quarters with Craigiebuckler and Seafield community council raising a number of objections.
A letter from chairman William Sell responds: “The plan for development is lacking in character and therefore fails to give a sense of place.
“It does not impress as a plan that aspires to go beyond the functionary production of houses.
“In that sense it is merely utilitarian. Amenities that enhance the quality of life for the first residents of the Countesswells development should be included in the plan.”
