The local authority had been due to host the traditional Guy Fawkes festivities at the Beach but has taken the decision to cancel citing concerns over public safety due to the weather.
It was due at the city’s Beach Boulevard. Fire jugglers and a charity firewalk were to kick off at 7pm, followed by a 20-minute fireworks display set to music from 8pm.
An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: “Unfortunately, we have taken the decision to cancel tonights Firework display at Aberdeen Beach.
“We are extremely disappointed that this year’s display will not go ahead but the public’s safety is our paramount concern and we are expecting increasing winds with gusts of up to 45mph up to launch time.”
