Pantomime stars from His Majesty’s Theatre took a break from the stage yesterday morning to bring some festive spirit to youngsters at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
Fairy Fit-like and the cast of Dick McWhittington dazzled children as part of a long-standing relationship between the hospital and Aberdeen Performing Arts.
The cast arrived in the morning to hand out gifts to children just in time for Christmas.
And the youngsters got the chance to interact with the main characters in the show, including Dame Tilly McDrone, King Rat and Dick McWhittington.
The stage stars brought some panto joy to children who were unlikely to be able to visit the theatre this year and sparked some light relief for them, their families and members of staff at the hospital.
The show was written by Alan McHugh, who has been involved in the pantomime in Aberdeen for the last 13 years.
It was launched on Saturday, December 3 and will run until Sunday, January 8.
A spokeswoman for Aberdeen Performing Arts described the trip as a “highlight in the calendar” for those involved in the production.
She said: “Panto season at His Majesty’s Theatre is a magical time of year, with hundreds of families bringing their loved ones along to join in the festive fun.
“Our wonderful cast always look forward to the [hospital] visit, which brightens up the day for so many of the young people on the wards, as well as their families and the hardworking staff.
“The characters are larger than life and they raise a smile wherever they go.”
