An Aberdeen charity has been officially partnered with Robert Gordon University.
Dates-n-mates Aberdeen is a small organisation, which is a part of Scotland’s first dating and friendship agency, run by and for people with learning disabilities.
The team has been working successfully with RGU for the past three years and has now been officially recognised as Industry Partner for the university’s School of Creative and Cultural Business.
Students in their final year of the Events Management course have been asked to raise funds for a local charity.
And since Dates-n-mates doesn’t have a fundraising team, student support over the years has been an invaluable source of assistance to them.
Project coordinator, Louise McEwan said: “The students have been a massive help and we are now in a position where we are able to offer more opportunities to our members and put on more social events for them.
“For us, the whole module has been amazing. The students have been able to give us a different insight because they see things in ways which we don’t.”
The group currently has 62 members and extra funding will allow them to do more outreach with the prospect of branching out into Aberdeenshire “on the cards.”
