People across the north and north-east are being asked to get their thinking caps on and take part in what could be the largest-ever online quiz for a children’s charity.

The Archie Foundation is planning to hold the record-breaking feat on April 1, and is working to recruit 2,000 people willing to put their knowledge to the test.

It is hoped the event, taking place via Facebook Live, will raise thousands of pounds to help the NHS treat sick children and their families across Grampian, the Highlands and Tayside.

Quizzers will compete across six rounds in real time, with volunteers hard at work behind the scenes to mark scorecards before a winner is crowned.

Jamie Smith, the Grampian fundraising manager at the Archie Foundation, said: “A lot of events and fundraising activities have been postponed recently, so we wanted to find a way to ensure we can still support the NHS and what we do.”

It will cover six rounds of questions including general knowledge and sport.

The winner will receive a grand prize, which the charity is currently keeping under wraps.

In addition to the money raised, the Archie Foundation could also be presented with a world record for its efforts.

As it stands, the largest-ever online quiz was held at the New Oriental School of Changsha in China in October 2018, when 1,622 people took part.

Participants must enter their name ahead of time by texting ARCHIEQUIZ to 70085, which will add a ÂŁ5 charity donation to their next mobile phone bill.
