The vehicle collided with an arch of the Wellington suspension bridge, which runs over Riverside Drive, at around 12pm. Nobody was hurt during the incident. A police spokeswoman said: “It just sort of hit the bridge, it appears the crane that lifts the skips onto the lorry has just struck the it a bit. “We’re waiting for the council to let us know if there’s any damage to the bridge.” The structure is not said to be dangerous following the crash, and the road it still open. However, road delays are to be expected soon, as the lorry is yet to be recovered. An ambulance service spokeswoman said they did not attend the incident.
