Aberdeen nightclub Espionage goes into administration

One of Aberdeen’s most popular nightclubs has gone into administration.
Staff at Espionage, which is located on Union Street, are being retained, though the property will soon be put on the market.
The club is owned and operated by Espionage East Limited (EEL) and Espionage North Limited (ENL), who also run a club of the same name in Edinburgh.
Blair Nimmo and Gary Fraser of KPMG LLP were appointed as joint administrators of the firms, and Duddingston Leisure Limited, on Monday.
Mr Nimmo, head of restructuring at KPMG in Scotland, said: “The Espionage brand is well established in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, with a loyal and diverse customer base.
“However, the businesses have been affected by challenging trading conditions as a result of the general downturn in the nightclub market in recent years.”
