Heavy snowfall has caused chaos across Scotland today and now the white stuff has finally reached Aberdeen.
The snow has arrived just in time for the Granite City’s Christmas switch on, with the celebration due to start at 5.30pm tonight.
The Christmas lights switch on parade on Union Square will feature people dressed in colourful costumes representing the 12 Day of Christmas and is set to be made all the more authentic thanks to the snow.
While the white stuff will add to the festive feeling at the lights switch on, the winter weather has also caused a number of problems on roads across the country.
The A90, north of Dundee was brought to a standstill this afternoon, while the A93 Ballater to Perth road was closed at Glenshee due to snowfall and drivers have been urged to avoid the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road between Keith and Newtack, if possible.
Driving conditions in the Highlands are being described as “horrendous” with the A9 Perth to Inverness road at the Drumtochter pass covered in snow.
The B974 Cairn O’ Mount road was closed due to “heavy snow” this morning.
It's looking festive after a sudden fall of snow in Aberdeen. That Christmas tree went up this weekend as well. pic.twitter.com/BQAL1uC6cg
