Communities across the north-east have been warned of another blast of snow across the region tonight.
As much as four inches could accumulate in some towns and villages in Aberdeenshire and Moray as the Met Office places a weather warning across Grampian.
Temperatures plummeted to their lowest of the winter so far this morning with Braemar dropping to -6.9C and Aberdeen to -2C.
Snow is expected to fall heaviest in the highest regions of Aberdeenshire and Moray tonight into tomorrow morning.
Several inches of snow is also expected to make its way into Deeside villages including Ballater and Aboyne whilst people in Aberdeen are also warned to expect a dusting.
The Met Office yellow warning for snow started earlier today and will be in force until 11am tomorrow whilst the forecaster also warned of icy roads.
However much of the north-east – including Fraserburgh and Peterhead – may miss out on the snow, with milder temperatures causing it to fall as rain.
Aberdeen Met Office meteorologist, Stuart Brookes, said: “It is likely to come in as snow and possibly coming to low levels. You are speaking of up to 5cm (1.9in) to a few inches about the 200m (656ft) level. That will be places like Ballater and Aboyne and places like that.
“It will start off as snow at lower levels but not last very long. I think for Aberdeen itself it will be very, very brief, wet and sleety, maybe some snow in higher parts in the west but not lasting long.”
