Police in Aberdeen have cordoned off a street as they investigate reports of a firearm being fired.
Officers taped off Provost Rust Drive from Moir Crescent up to North Anderson Drive roundabout at around 10.45pm last night.
Investigators are still currently at the scene of the incident.
Yesterday night, a number of residents in the community posted on social media that they thought they heard the sound of a gunshot or fireworks.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that it is making inquires into an allegation that a firearm was discharged on Provost Rust Drive near the junction of North Anderson Drive and Moir Crescent at around 10.30 last night, Wednesday December 23.
“No-one was injured. Inquiries are at an early stage, and anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area is urged to contact the police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous.”
