A kind-hearted family from Fraserburgh have launched a fundraising mission to honour the memory of their little boy.
Stevie and Deborah Anderson want to raise as much money as they can for the ARCHIE Foundation, the official charity of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, after their son Charlie died, aged only 13 months.
The couple and their daughter Ava have reached out to extended family and friends to get involved, and help them remember little Charlie.
They will host a golf tournament and family fun day at Fraserburgh Golf Club on June 11.
Mr Anderson said his family had chosen ARCHIE in recognition of the support the team provided to them during the last few weeks of Charlie’s tragically short life.
The 35-year-old said: “It’s something that’s really close to our hearts.
“Our little boy was only 13 months old when he suddenly died last June, and before that he was in the hospital for more than a week with a bad infection.
“He was looked after really well, and we found out that the ARCHIE Foundation was heavily involved, so we want to raise some money for them.”
As well as the golf tournament, there will be family fun including a bouncy castle, face painting and a disco.
Mr Anderson, who works in the oil and gas industry, added: “Our tournament’s purpose is to keep my boy’s memory going.
“Every year we’re going to have this golf charity tournament at Fraserburgh Golf Club. We’re going to call it the Charlie Anderson Memorial Tournament, with all the proceeds going to ARCHIE every year.
“Anyone can sign up, we’re going to be doing it as a Texas Scramble, so folk can sign up in teams of three or four.
“As well as the golf tournament, I’ve got my pal’s little nine-year-old girl, Molly, doing a five-mile swim, and I’ve got two friends doing the 10K run at Balmoral Castle in April, and me and a bunch of my other friends are going to be doing a bike run from Aberdeen to Fraserburgh later on that month, a whole host of things for ARCHIE.”
