Aberdeen City Council has told residents of the city not to expect a waterpark to appear this summer – after thousands of people pledged to support one in the city this summer.
An event page promising slides, flumes and rapids in August has received more than 5,700 ‘likes’ on Facebook but the local authority has said it has not been notified.
Councillor Neil Cooney, convener of the communities, housing and infrastructure committee, said:
“We have not had any correspondence or approach from Summer Safari Waterpark 2016 about holding an event in Aberdeen.”
A tweet from the local authority also urged people not to support the page, warning it could be a “potential data mining scam”.
