A young mum who died in an Aberdeenshire crash has been named by police.

Hannah Davies suffered fatal injuries in the one-car crash on the A92 Inverbervie to Kinneff road yesterday.

Her 13-month-old daughter, who was also in the car, was taken to Royal Aberdeen Children’s hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.

She has since been reunited with her family and is “safe and well”.

A statement on behalf of the 23-year-old, who is from Inverbervie, was released through the police today.

It reads: “We would like to thank the folk who stopped to try and help our daughter as well as the emergency services and the hospital.”

Emergency services attended the scene after the black Nissan Note left the road at around 10.50am.

The road was closed to allow collision investigation to take place and was later re-opened.

Sergeant Malcolm Kinross, Road Policing Unit, North East Division said: “First of all, I would say that all our thoughts are with the friends and family of Hannah at this utterly devastating time.

“I would like to thank everyone who assisted at the scene.  Our investigation is still at an early stage and I am appealing for anyone who was aware of a black Nissan Note at around 10.50am yesterday on the A92 Inverbervie to Kinneff road, to contact the Police on 101.”
