A historic north-east organisation which has welcomed generation upon generation of women from the area is preparing to mark its 100th birthday.
The Alford Scottish Women’s Institute is planning a centenary celebration next month, in the hope that many former members who have lost touch will make it along.
The SWI as a whole was founded in 1917, with this Aberdeenshire chapter starting up just three years later.
In the 100 years since then, scores of women have passed through its doors to come together and socialise, learn, campaign and have fun.
Recently, the Alford institute has held a series of events including knitting workshops and flower arranging competitions.
Members have also attended talks from people with a wide range of skills including Lego builders, former Countdown winners and skilled local crafters.
The 100th birthday party will be marked with a special meal at the Haughton Hotel on Main Street, Alford, from 6.30pm on Thursday, February 13.
Those interested in attending are asked to contact group president Anna Stallard on 019755 63859 or Isobel Kinnon on 019755 64466.
