A new ice cream parlour is on its way to Banchory.
Plans were approved this week for the venture, which will also include a café and takeaway facility.
The premises, a unit located on the lane leading to the town’s Scott Skinner Square, was previously a bakery.
Supporting documents by Matthew W Merchant, on behalf of the applicant, state: “The proposal is to refurbish an existing vacant shop unit into an ice cream parlour and cafe with a takeaway facility.
“The shop was previously a bakery, retailing traditional bakery product, complemented by a hot food takeaway facility.
“The primary use will be as an ice cream parlour with seating area and will also encompass use as a café serving coffee, hot drinks, soft drinks, Belgian waffles, hot and cold sandwiches, paninis and soup.
“As such, there will be no deep fat frying on site.”
The applicants suggest the operating hours for the venture would be from 8am until 9pm, Monday to Sunday, during summer months.
Those may be reduced during the winter months.
They add: “The proposed use will make a positive contribution to the retailing not only in Scott Skinner Square but also to the High Street and Banchory generally.”
Plans were approved this week, with the council pleased with the prospect of a vacant shop being being transformed.
