A businesswoman has launched a new awards scheme to honour the heroes who have risen to help out in their communities during lockdown.
Cerri McDonald came up with the idea in an effort to recognise those who have been performing good deeds for others in recent weeks.
Inspired by the wealth of projects that are serving as a lifeline to those in need, the managing director of Prospect 13 has launched the New Day Awards.
Voting will take place online throughout April and categories include sport and leisure, food and drink, third sector, professional services and media.
Ms McDonald said: “In the midst of adjusting to these grey times, we wanted to shine a light on the many people and organisations who have gone above and beyond to support the local community.
“They have really dug deep, thought outside the box and put their skills and resources to good use encouraging, motivating and touching many along the way.”
