Thousands of north-east residents showed up to watch as a gargantuan bonfire lit up the night sky earlier this week.
The Gadle Braes Guy Fawkes Day event in Peterhead is immensely popular with locals and these images show the scale of the enormous bonfire – which stood a whopping 45ft tall before being ignited.
Organisers took three weeks to collect the 4,000 wooden pallets needed to build the pyre and nail them together.
The event has been a feature of Peterhead for a century.
As the pictures show, it did not disappoint the thousands who flocked to watch the spectacle.
The bonfire went ahead despite safety fears raised by many in the local area, with some calling for it to be moved to a more remote area.
In the past the heat of the flames from the Gadle Braes fire has been so extreme that nearby windows have cracked.
