Parents and carers are being encouraged to attend a drop-in event today to discuss the progress of a new Aberdeenshire School.
The organisers are aiming to provide information on the progress of the replacement amenity for the existing Kinellar Primary.
Local Aberdeenshire councillors will be at the event to provide information about the proposed plans, in addition to discussing transition arrangements.
The session will cover information about early years provision, transport arrangements as well as exhibiting designs of the new school.
It follows a public meeting in December 2015 and reports to the Garioch Area Committee and Policy and Resources Committee in January.
Councillors approved the option to build the new school on the existing site and officers have been working with architects, Halliday Fraser Munro, to develop the design.
Options to redevelop adjacent playing fields are also being addressed to provide a site for a temporary nursery.
During the construction period, pupils would be educated at Midmill School in Kintore from January 2017 until the new primary school is completed for the summer term in 2018.
The drop-in event is the first in a series of meetings to provide people with information throughout the project.
Councillor Alison Evison, the chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s education, learning and leisure committee, said: “The last meeting was very constructive and gave everyone the opportunity to discuss the new Kinellar Primary School.
“The engagement continues, following the decision by the Policy and Resources Committee to build on the current site, and the journey towards the new school will be shaped by the community with these events.”
Garioch area committee Chair, Councillor Fergus Hood, said: “The new school must meet the needs of the local community and I am pleased to see a number of consultation events planned to give people an overview of progress.
“I encourage people to come along and find out more about the new school.”
The event will take place this afternoon from 4.00pm-7.30pm at the current school on Fintray Road in Blackburn.
