A 17-year-old who died in a road incident this morning has been named by police as Jordan Gibbins from Lonmay, near Fraserburgh.
His grey Honda Civil crashed on the A90 about a mile and a half south of Fraserburgh at around 3.10am.
Police Scotland confirmed he died as a result of the collision.
Sergeant Rob Warnock said: “First and foremost, my thoughts are obviously with the family and friends of this young man at this tragic time.
“I would appeal for anyone who might have seen the vehicle described in the moments leading up to the collision, or has any information about the incident itself, to contact police as we launch an investigation into what happened.”
The A90 has been closed from the Tesco roundabout at Fraserburgh to the B9032 junction leading to Memsie.
