A 34-year-old man has been charged in relation to a breach of the peace after he climbed onto a statue and refused to come down.
At least five police units, a fire engine and an ambulance were sent to try to recover the man who had climbed up on to the plinth of the Edward VII statue which sits on the corner of Union Street and Union Terrace.
Major disruption to the city centre followed as buses were cancelled and traffic and pedestrians were banned from entering most of the major streets.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 34-year-old man has been charged in relation to a breach of the peace after police were called to assist with an incident in the Union Street area of Aberdeen yesterday, Sunday, 14 August, at around 6.45pm.
The man is anticipated to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today, Monday, 15 August.”
