A 23-year-old Inverness man lost his temper with his girlfriend after he discovered messages from her ex-partner on her mobile phone.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Brodie Ferguson, of Laggan Road, shouted offensive remarks and swore at Siobhan Macleod in her home on January 31 this year, then threw a bottle towards one of her friends.
Fiscal depute Allison Wylie said: “She and a friend were on a night out and returned home. She went to bed and fell asleep but was sick and he went upstairs to look after her.
“He saw her phone and there were messages from her ex on it and there was an argument.”
Defence solicitor Duncan Henderson said: “My client actually ended up with a burst nose. But he recognises his behaviour was unacceptable.”
Sheriff John Rafferty placed Ferguson under 12 months social work supervision and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work because it was his second similar conviction and a bottle was thrown.
