A man has appeared in court in connection with a serious assault near a Fraserburgh nightclub.
Jamie Masson appeared in private at Peterhead Sheriff Court yesterday, charged with assault to serious injury, permanent disfigurement and danger to life.
His appearance comes after a 33-year-old man was badly hurt in an incident near Deejays in Fraserburgh at about 2.50amn on Sunday.
He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he is understood to be in a critical but stable condition.
Masson, 23, made no plea or declaration during the court hearing and was released on bail.
Police yesterday appealed for anyone with information about the alleged incident outside Deejays to come forward.
Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson said: “I would urge anyone with additional information to come forward as every witness viewpoint is extremely important in assisting us with the investigation.
“Around the time in question large numbers of people would have been leaving nearby licensed premises and I would ask that anyone who saw anything and has information that could assist to contact us as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
