Plant operator Barry Macleod of Old Steading Road, Kinmylies admitted assaulting Andrew Ross to his severe injury outside Lauder’s Bar on February 28. He was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid community work. Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Macleod had words with Mr Ross who had been an ex-partner of Macleod’s sister and then struck him on the head. Mr Ross received hospital treatment and required 18 stitches to a wound. His broken jaw did not require surgery, fiscal depute Stewart Maciver said
