A Sheriff has given a woman time to identify someone who was believed to have driven her car while under influence of alcohol.
Stacey Bremner, 26, was warned by Sheriff Andrew Berry that failure to do so would have “series consequences”.
Bremner, of Kennedy Terrace, Wick, admitted failing to disclose who was driving her car at the town’s Carnaby Road on April 16.
Wick Sheriff Court was told that police were conducting inquiries into reports of a car being driven in an erratic manner by someone who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
Fiscal Fraser Matheson said that Bremner had been observed “running along behind the vehicle”. It was later found by police having been abandoned.
As the registered keeper of the car, Bremner was interviewed by officers and indicated she had been present but was not someone who would be “a grass”.
Mr Matheson said that despite further inquiries, the driver had not been traced.
Sheriff Berry warned Bremner that about the serious consequences withholding the information and said it could lead to a charge of perverting the course of justice.
He continued the case for a fortnight to allow Bremner to consider her position and if necessary contact a solicitor.
