Video footage of a street brawl in a Moray town has been called for to determine whether a man was brandishing a glass bottle as part of the fight or just drinking from it.
Michael Green, of 99 Nelson Terrace in Keith, was involved in a skirmish in the town’s Mid Street on September 25.
The 21-year-old admitted brandishing a bottle during the brawl at a hearing at Elgin Sheriff Court.
But when Green appeared back in the dock yesterday he attempted to back out of his plea.
Fiscal depute David Morton said police became aware of the fight at about 1.30am between a “group of men”.
After arresting Green for shouting and swearing at officers they later became aware he had been part of the brawl too.
Mr Morton said: “CCTV shows the start of the fight, which officers had missed at the time. It shows the accused also involved in the main fight, at one point he brandishes a glass bottle.”
Green, who was representing himself in court, repeatedly insisted he had not used a bottle while in the dock yesterday but accepted he had been part of the fight.
He said: “I was not brandishing it. I had taken it out of the pub and was just drinking from it.”
Sentence was deferred again until December 8 in order for CCTV footage of the fight to be reviewed in court.
Green also admitted charges of attempting to hinder police by trying to rescue someone being arrested and struggling violently with two constables.
