A Highland Council youth worker has been accused of illegally accessing information on a registered sex offender.
Maureen Lavin, 58, was charged at Fort William Sheriff Court that on December 7 last year, at the council premises at Fulton House, Gordon Square, Fort William, without consent of the data controller, she accessed personal data held on the Care First System in relation to a registered sex offender.
Lavin, of Campbell Road, Tomonie, Fort William, was not in court but represented by defence lawyer Hamish Melrose.
Mr Melrose told Honorary Sheriff John Hutchison: “I think it would suit both the prosecution and myself if this case could be continued without plea until Tuesday.”
The sheriff agreed and the case will be called again on December 6.
