A Moray man wrecked a love rival’s car with a wheelie bin in a fit of jealous rage after being dumped.
Douglas Morrison left a white Audi A3 so badly damaged it was written off – denting every panel cracking its windshield and smashing its windows.
The 20-year-old lashed out after discovering that the mother of his children had found a new partner.
Morrison, of Cameron Drive, Keith, admitted behaving in a abusive manner by shouting and swearing at his former partner and her new boyfriend and uttering threats of violence.
He also accepted a charge of recklessly destroying property belonging to another by repeatedly striking a motor vehicle with a wheelie bin and punching it.
Yesterday, he appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court for sentencing.
The offence took place on Sunday, September 18, at 98 Douglas Crescent in Buckie.
Morrison’s lawyer, Matthew O’Neill, said his client had been drinking in the hours leading up to the incident.
Mr O’Neill added: “He had been in a relationship with his former partner for a long time, but the relationship broke down while he was working offshore.
“He was very upset when he learned about her new relationship, and accepts that his anger got the better of him.”
Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov fined him £590 and ordered him to pay £750 in compensation to the owner of the vehicle.
