A furious Moray man smashed his cousin’s door with a snooker cue and threatened to stab him over a £90 debt.
Ryan Morrison became incensed when Guy Martin refused to answer his calls about the loan, and took matters into his own hands when he visited his home at Fleur’s Road in Forres.
Elgin Sheriff Court heard the 31-year-old arrived at his relative’s address on the afternoon of Thursday, August 18.
Fiscal, Alex Swain, said: “The complainer was watching TV at 12.30pm when he heard a loud banging on the front door, and a voice shouting and swearing through the letterbox.
“He then heard the accused tell witnesses that he was going to take his TV, and sell it in Cash Converters.”
After hearing the accused driving away, Mr Martin sent him a text message advising that he would be unable to repay the money until the following month.
However, the court heard that this failed to calm Morrison down – and he returned to the house later that afternoon armed with the end of a snooker cue.
Ms Swain added: “He started headbutting and punching the front door, and stated he was going to stab his cousin.
“He then hit the glass with the end of a snooker cue until it smashed.”
Police arrived and detained Morrison, who apologised to neighbours for the ugly scenes.
The accused, of Elgin’s Smith Drive, admitted charges of behaving in a threatening manner, repeatedly banging a door with a snooker cue and smashing its window.
Defending himself from the dock, Morrison claimed his cousin had a reputation for “stealing” within the family.
But he conceded that did not excuse his “silly” reaction.
Sheriff James Tierney told the accused he was lucky he was not facing more serious extortion charges.
He deferred sentence until next month for the preparation of reports.
