Paramedics became alarmed when they spotted a knife on the waistband of a casualty with a head wound lying outside a Ross-shire pub.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard yesterday that 40-year-old Richard Allan was abusive and refused medical attention.
The ambulance personnel took the knife from him for their own protection and the police were called.
Allan, of Mains Avenue in Invergordon, yesterday admitted possessing the knife without reasonable excuse outside the Silver Dollar Bar on June 19 last year.
Defence solicitor Neil Wilson said the knife was folded and was a work tool.
Sentence was deferred for a background report until March 10.
