Driver collided with pedestrian at Highland garage

The driver of a car which struck a pedestrian at a Wick garage was so concerned about it that he later gave her a bunch of flowers as well as an apology.
Graham Sutherland, 23, admitted driving carelessly at Dunnett’s Garage on November 4.
It was stated at Wick Sheriff Court yesterday, that he failed to observe Maura Henderson crossing one of the entrances to the garage he was negotiating.
The court was told that Sutherland, of Ackergill Crescent, Wick, had immediately accepted responsibility for the accident and had afterwards asked police about Ms Henderson’s condition.
Sheriff Andrew Berry said he took that into account but added that the accident must have been “an unsettling and painful experience” for Ms Henderson who was treated in hospital for bruising.
Her dog also required treatment, at a local vet practice.
Sutherland was fined £260 and incurred four penalty points.
