A 55-year-old Maryburgh man took exception to police returning to his home after neighbours first complained about loud music from the property.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told that officers received a second complaint about alleged vandalism and questioned Finlay Urquhart, who was having a family gathering in Donald Cameron Court.
The self-employed joiner had moderated the music, Sheriff Mark Thorley heard, but when police spoke to him, he pushed one of the officers.
His defence solicitor, Marc Dickson, said: “He took umbridge at them coming back to speak to him.”
Urquhart admitted obstructing or hindering police in the course of their duty on April 26 last year and was fined £650.
