An Invergordon man who had a small knife in his waistband when paramedics were treating him was ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid community work yesterday.
Sentence was deferred for a background report last month at Inverness Sheriff Court on 40-year-old Richard Allan who was abusive and refused medical attention.
He had fallen outside a local pub and injured his head, the court was told.
The ambulancemen took the knife from him for their own protection and the police were called.
Allan of Mains Avenue, Invergordon admitted possessing the knife without reasonable excuse outside the Silver Dollar Bar on June 19, 2016.
Defence solicitor Neil Wilson said the knife was folded and was a work tool.
“He realises inadvertence is no defence.
“It was his responsibility to ensure it was no longer in his possession.”
