Ullapool man had almost 300 indecent images of children

A 20-year-old Ullapool man will be sentenced next month after admitting downloading almost 300 indecent images of children.

Lewis Paterson, of Morefield Place, pleaded guilty at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday to the offence which occurred between July 2014 and February 2015, at his home.

Fiscal depute Michelle Molley said police received intelligence that the images had been downloaded to devices at that address.

She said a computer was seized and after analysis a total of 297 images – mostly featuring children as young as 4-5 years of age, were recovered.

Ms Molley added that 38 of them were at the highest end of the obscenity scale.

Paterson will be sentenced on May 8 by Sheriff Margaret Neilson and he was placed on the sex offender’s register. His bail was continued.

Defending, Alison Foggo said she would reserve her comments until then.
