Police were called to the top storey of a city centre car park and found a 30-year-old Inverness man standing there holding a knife.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told yesterday that officers received a “concern call” about Alan Woodward, of Cordon House, Union Street, at 11.30pm on Saturday June 18 last year.
Fiscal depute Michelle Molley told Sheriff Margaret Neilson: “After 30 minutes, constables persuaded him to surrender the knife to them after which he surrendered himself.
“He was taken to Burnett Road Police Station where he received a mental health assessment with no concerns noted.”
Woodward admitted illegal possession of a knife in a public place without reasonable excuse.
He will be sentenced on May 10 after a background report has been prepared and defence solicitor Marc Dickson reserved his comments until then.
